^^ writers can be heroes ^^



Dr. Jose Rizal


As all of us know, Dr. Jose Rizal is our national hero and whom we are looking up to. Even though, he was exiled in Dapitan and killed by the Spaniards still he remains to our mind and heart because of want he did for our country.

But before this heroic thing that he did for us, Dr. Jose Rizal was also a poet, essayist, diarist, and also a novelist. He even joined with Del Pilar and Ponce and created a Reform Movement during the time they were studying in Madrid.

Dr. Jose Rizal's famous works was the “ Noli me Tangere” and “El filibusterismo” but the most famous work of him and resulted to he birth of the Katipunero’s that headed by Andres Bonifacio is the La Liga Filipina. This is actually a peaceful reform that he had published but the Katipunero’s thought that he wanted to have a violent revolution.

Dr. Cecilio Lopez

Dr. Cecilio Lopez is known as The Father of Phil. Linguistics. He has lots of work that are measured classics such as A Manual to the Philippine National Language, two sequels of a Comparative Philippine World List in 1974 and 1976 and A Handbook of Comparative Austronesian in 1978 and in two parts: the mnemonic, consisting of 109 problems of proto-morphs answered in five Indonesian languages, two Melanesian languages; the heuristic, as well as 24Philippine languages and 192 proto-Austronesian morphs.


In 1970 Dr. Lopez was honored a plaque and gold medal as Outstanding Alumnus of the University of the Philippines. Dr. Lopez was receiver of a number of honors and awards. He was a John Simon Guggenheim Fellow in Linguistics at Yale Universit
y in Michigan.

F. Sionil Jose

He studied in UST after World War II and plunged into writing and journalism. In subsequent years, he edited various literary and journalistic publications, started a publishing house, and founded the Philippine branch of PEN an international organization for writers. Jose received numerous awards for his work. The Pretenders is his most popular novel, which is the story of one man's alienation from his poor background and the decadence of his wife's wealthy family.
